Fisher Center Calls for Pilot GRant Applications

The directors of the Jess and Mildred Fisher Center for Familial Cancer Research are pleased to announce the second annual call for applications for pilot grants. The purpose of the grant is to provide seed money for data collection and preliminary results leading to competitive applications for national funding sources. The grant is available to all faculty members and is not limited to junior faculty. Two $20,000 awards will be funded. Each award is for one year only and is not renewable.
Study proposals should support the mission of the Fisher Center, which is to conduct state-of-the-art research on the prevention, treatment and management of familial cancers in order to improve the medical and quality of life outcomes of men and women at risk for cancer. We invite applications for projects in basic science, clinical translational research, epidemiology, or behavioral science. In addition, we encourage applications addressing ethical and/or health policy issues that concern individuals with familial or hereditary cancer.
The application is attached, and is due on December 8, 2008. Funding will be awarded by February 1, 2009. If you have any questions, or would like more information about the Fisher Center, please e-mail Beth N. Peshkin, MS, Education Director, at peshkinb@georgetown.edu.
